ABOUT SANDRA
A space
for her words.
Sandra Rivera is a writer and poet. Born in Frutillar, Chile, she arrived in Argentina in 1984 and built much of her life and literary career in Bariloche. She continues to write and share her work in Ensenada.
She discovered reading and writing as a child, watching her siblings. At twelve, she began writing about disability. Over time, poetry became a refuge and a way to express her inner world.
She is the author of Palabras diferentes, Vuelo de gaviotas, Somos como somos and Voces que no se escuchan. Her poems, stories and reflections bring together relationships, memory, everyday life and a personal perspective on disability and society.

Discovering writing
Her first writings were names and thoughts on loose sheets of paper. Years later, access to a computer gave her greater independence to write and share her feelings.
Learning and finding her way
In Bariloche, she completed secondary school at the Centro Educativo de Nivel Medio para Trabajadores 255. She later studied Social Communication at the Instituto Superior Patagónico, but had to interrupt her studies for health reasons.
Words and other people
Her writing explores the experience of living with disability with intimacy and directness. Poetry and reflections on inclusion are part of a body of work that invites us to consider the life we share.
The beauty of everyday life
In “Sólo cosas”, one of the texts in Palabras diferentes, Sandra shares her love of rain, snow, music, reading and skiing. She also writes about the pleasure of learning, experimenting and making others laugh.
IN HER WORDS
